For the past 3 years, Winter Park Resort and Red Bull welcomed over 100 teams competing in the 12 hours of racing; the winning number of total laps in Trestle® Bike Park was a grueling 36!

Red Bull Final Descent is a 12-hour endurance downhill mountain bike challenge on the gnarly terrain in Trestle® Bike Park at Winter Park Resort – geared to sport-, expert- and pro-class mountain bikers. The rider, duo or team to complete the most laps down the mountain in 12 hours wins their class and a grip load of prizes. This is an amazing weekend for spectators and riders alike!

Classes / Prizes:
With a $5000 cash purse to top finishers at each event in all categories, plus prizes from our industry sponsors, a $500 cash purse goes to the series top pro male and female rider who completes the most laps in a combined total from both events including the Angel Fire Resort event. All other class series top finishers will receive a cash prize.

Cash prizes for each event are as follows:

Division 1st 2nd 3rd
Pro Solo Men's $1000 $400 $200
Pro Solo Women's $800 $300 $100
Expert Solo Men's $300 $200 $100

Pro Duo, Mixed $1000 $400 $200

Division Classifications:

  • Solo: Pro Women, Pro Men, Expert Women, Expert Men
  • Duo: Expert and Pro (teams consist of 2 people any mix – guy/guy, girl/girl, guy/girl)
  • Team: Open class consisting of 3-4 person teams of any mix
  • Sport and/or beginner class riders may also register in the 'Expert' class, with the understanding that the Red Bull Final Descent is not for the timid! There will be many people on course at the same time, and all riders must use caution and discretion when they encounter another rider.

Event registration is available in advance, online, or onsite during rider check-in the day before the event (add $15 to the fees for onsite registration). Participation fee includes event registration, lift ticket, event T-shirt and all the Red Bull you can drink!

Because of the popularity of this race, we have set a course rider limit of 150. Since a duo or team will only have one rider on course at a time, this means that a duo or team counts as one. So technically, we will have more than 150 competitors participating in the event. When you go to sign up online, don't think it's getting to full if the number is over 150. If you can register, then it means there is room for you to sign up.

* IMPORTANT: Riders under 18 will need to A) have their parent/legal guardian present during packet pickup OR B) download and print out the waiver, and we will accept it with a notarized signature from a parent/legal guardian. THIS IS MANDATORY, NO WAY AROUND THIS, SO COME PREPARED. All riders over 18 will complete waivers at rider check-in. NEED A RELEASE FORM?

Logistics / Rules:

  • Full face helmets are mandatory for all athletes. Armor and gloves are strongly recommended.
  • There are no ties. Close finishes will be resolved by timing & course officials using recorded data.
  • Team class is based on best rider-on-team skill level.
  • Obvious and significantly injured riders will be suspended unless or until they are proven capable of continuing safely (discretion of course officials).
  • Chairlift loading will be 3 riders/bikes ALTERNATING with the public bike park guests on Eskimo. Racers will have exclusive access to the Gemini lift.
  • Only one rider per duo/team is allowed on course at any given time.

Race Info: Saturday, September 7 from 7am – 7pm

  • Race begins with a mass start at the top of the course at 7am, staggered by rider class level. The course closes at 6:45pm sharp, and all riders on the mountain at that time will be allowed to score their final lap. If a weather event causes a closure of the lift, the winner will be based on completed laps to that point in the race.
